Text Box: Bridging the gap for individuals and families.

Having grown up in Simpsonville and spending the vast majority of my life here, I felt this area was the place to open a practice for one it is my home and the area I want to give back to. I feel when you are a lifelong resident, you are committed to the quality of service you provide. I graduated Hillcrest High School and soon became a Paramedic here in Greenville. A few years later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina- Spartanburg after beginning my career in law enforcement. Working my way through the ranks and being exposed to the worst of the worst for over twenty years, I left law enforcement and focused on the counseling field. I saw the devastating effects of traumatic events and also how everyday life can negatively impact people’s lives and felt that this is the path I should take.

While pursuing my Masters in Counseling from Webster University, I taught in the public schools and worked part time for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health first as behavioral interventionist and then as a full time counselor working with children and families which required a vast amount of work from me and other sources to prevent the placement of that child and the dissolution of the home.

I am licensed as a Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.  I am a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. I also am certified in EMDR, Level I.   I have worked with the State, counseled students at the Governor’s Schools for the Arts and Humanities and now enjoy private practice. I enjoy working with all age groups and especially families, but my focus has been with the older teen age population. My areas of interest are abuse and neglect, Post Traumatic Stress and anxiety disorders.  I have expanded my study and training to include traumatic and complicated grief as well as being a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor working with new counselors during their first two years of licensure. In 2012, I was honored by Governor Nikki Haley with an appointment to the State Board of Examiners for Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapist and Psycho-Educational Specialist.
